MHI Receives Steam Turbine Order In China

Japan-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. is expanding its business in China.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. has received an order for a steam turbine with the capacity of approximately 90 megawatt to be installed in a pulp and paper plant in China owned and operated by Asia Symbol (Shandong) Pulp And Paper Company Ltd., a fiber, pulp and paper manufacturer originated in Indonesia. The steam turbine is slated to go on-stream in 2015.

The Chinese pulp and paper plant is located in Rizhao, Shandong Province, approximately 200 kilometers southwest of Qingdao. The steam turbine on order will be used primarily for in-house power generation to accommodate power demand associated with augmentation of the plant facility. In addition, steam will be partially extracted from the turbine and supplied for pulp and paper production processing.

MHI will supply the steam turbine and will also dispatch technical advisors to the plant construction site for its installation and test operation. Mitsubishi Corporation will handle trade particulars.

Asia Symbol is a member of the Royal Golden Eagle group, one of the leading privately owned, integrated resource-based industrial groups in the Asia Pacific region. MHI previously delivered two steam turbines to Rizhao plant in 2008.
