American Company Partners With Firm For Cellulosics In China

U.S.-based Eastman Chemical Company has entered into a joint venture with Mazzucchelli 1849 SPA for the manufacture of compounded cellulose diacetate in Shenzhen.

Compounded cellulose diacetate is a bio-derived material, which is used in various injection molded applications, including but not limited to ophthalmic frames, tool handles and other end use products. Eastman cellulosics are reportedly produced from 100% renewable softwood materials.

Terms of the joint venture were not disclosed.
