Kia Cars Recalled In China

Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motor Company — a joint venture between the Dongfeng Motor Corporation, Kia Motors, and Yueda — has started recalling 18,147 cars sold in China.

According to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the recall involved 7,231 imported Sorento models produced between September 1, 2009 and July 1, 2010; 1,635 imported Borego models produced between September 4, 2009 and June 25, 2010; and 9,281 Soul models manufactured between September. 23, 2009 and August 6, 2010.

The recall is due to a faulty circuit board that could cause a short-circuit or even lead to damage to the front door of the cars in extreme situations.

The quality watchdog said that the recall, which started on September 6, is part of Kia's worldwide recall program.
