China's Huawei Now World's Number Two Mobile Supplier

Ren Zhengfei, president of Huawei, revealed in a new year's greeting letter to employees that the company realized sales of over USD30 billion in 2009, with sales income of USD21.5 billion.

According to local media reports, the letter stated that the company also achieved good results in the Chinese market in 2009, the first year of China's 3G mobile era, and it gained record-high sales of USD10 billion in the domestic market.

Reports published by market research organization Dell'Oro show that Huawei has become the second largest mobile equipment supplier in the world and the company has established strong competitiveness in 3G and LTE sectors. In 2009, Huawei helped the world's leading operator TeliaSonera deploy the world's first LTE commercial network in Norway; its software business achieved over 30% growth in two consecutive years; and its professional service sector achieved over 50% growth in three consecutive years.

While maintaining stable operations, Huawei attaches great importance to environmental protection and sustainable development. It launched a green product program to help operators save energy by temperature control and use of green energies. It also implemented various measures to improve the utilization of energy.

Ren said that Huawei's worldwide growth was attributed to its continuous innovations to meet the demands of customers. By June 2009, Huawei had joined 123 international standards organizations and had applied for 39,184 patents.
