Ericsson has sued companies, including D-Link, Acer and Netgear, in Texas, U.S., for infringement of wireless products.
The reports state that the prosecuted businesses in Ericsson's lawsuit include D-Link's parent company; D-Link's subsidiary in America; Acer's parent company; Acer's subsidiary in America; Netgear; and Gateway, which has been integrated into Acer.
This lawsuit reportedly involved patents of many wireless technologies, including 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n. All wireless products carrying chips of Atheros, Ralink, and Realtek, or OEM products made by Foxconn, Gemtek, and LiteOn, are suspected infringing products.
Ericsson requested the infringing companies to compensate its losses and asked the court to ban the sales of the infringing products.
In regards to the lawsuit, D-Link said they cannot give any comment, because the company had not received any file from the court. But it will not affect the sales of its products. Another Taiwanese company, Acer, said that its legal department had received the related notice and has started judicial procedures. The company gave no further comment either.
