In response to an initiative of Wuhan Hanyang District Federation of Trade Unions, 1,000 enterprises in Wuahan have pledged not to reduce salaries or defer payment to their employees with the aim of expanding domestic demand and promoting consumption.
It is said that the fulfillment of the commitment by the enterprises will be made a basis for their annual audit and a criteria in judging whether they are harmonious enterprises.
To ensure the commitment is duly fulfilled, Hanyang District Human Resource Bureau, Hanyang Economic and Information Bureau and Hanyang Construction Management Bureau have each included their duties into a public commitment letter. They also promise to mutually share information and coordinate with each other, and take joint action in punishing companies that defer workers' salaries.
The companies believe the no salary reduction and back pay is not only good for protecting workers' interests, but also in line with their own long term development.
