Telecommunications International Limited, has signed a USD422.2 million contract with the Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei to expand its network in Indonesia.
According to the report published by HTIL, the company plans to buy equipment and infrastructure valued at USD307.2 million from Huawei before January 1, 2011, and buy an additional USD80 million of equipment and infrastructure before January 1, 2015. In addition, Huawei will provide three-year operating set management services to HTIL and the services will cost USD35 million.
HTIL stated with the cooperation with Huawei, the company will expand HCPT's existing operating network in Indonesia and will provide planning, design, measurement, integration, and other management services in accordance to the demands of HCPT. HTIL currently owns a 65% stake in HCPT.
As a listed subsidiary of the Hong Kong-headquartered Hutchison Whampoa Limited, HTIL offers mobile services in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and in Israel where it also offers fixed-line services. It launched commercial service in Indonesia via its subsidiary HCPT in March 2007 under the global "3″ brand.
