Taiwan's TSMC Revenue Drops 6.8% In August 2009

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company has published its net sales for August 2009 and states that on an unconsolidated basis, its net sales decreased by 6.8% over the previous year to NTD28.89 billion.

Its net sales were NTD31 billion in the same period of 2008. In addition, the sales in August 2009 decreased by 4.6% compared with that of July 2009. The company's total revenue from January to August 2009 was NTD168.72 billion, a decrease of 27.5% compared with the same period in 2008.

On a consolidated basis, its net sales for August 2009 were NTD29.83 billion, a decrease of 6.4% over August 2008 and a decrease of 4.3% over July 2009. The revenue from January to August 2009 totaled NTD174.71 billion, a decrease of 27% compared with the same period in 2008.

TSMC previously said in late July that due to the recovery of market demands, its consolidated revenue in the third quarter of 2009 is expected to reach between NTD88 billion and NTD90 billion, which is higher than the NTD74.21 billion in the second quarter of 2009.
