According to the BBC, the Indian government has announced that they would allow imports of Chinese toys that have been certified by global safety organizations.
In January, India imposed a six-month ban on Chinese toys with the excuse of public health and safety. China opposed India's decision and said it was an act of trade protectionism.
Indian media reported that the price of toys in India increased dramatically following the ban on Chinese toys. The Indian Toy Industry Association said they had asked the government to raise the tariff on imported Chinese toys, but they hadn't expected that the government would impose a ban on Chinese toys.
According to ITIA, 75% of the toys sold in India are imported and of these more than 80% are from imported from the Chinese mainland.
