Chinese PC maker Lenovo has announced that from January 1, 2009, the company will merge its commercial desktop brands Kaitian and ThinkCentre and the brands will be replaced by a new brand ThinkCentre M.
The company says Lenovo Kaitian and ThinkCentre will merge in all aspects, including products, channels, service systems and operations.
Upon completion of the merger, Lenovo will explore the high, medium and low-end commercial desktop markets with ThinkCentre M, Qitian and Yangtian, respectively. According to the plan, Lenovo's original brand structure, which is formed by the two brands Lenovo and Think, will also be changed. In the future, the company will focus on the Think and Idea brands with sub-brands of ThinkCentre, ThinkPad, IdeaCentre and IdeaPad.
As the first step for the merger of its commercial desktop brands, Lenovo has recently launched its ThinkCentre M series products, which target medium and high-end corporate customers. Lenovo says depending on their four core features of high quality, easy management, environmental protection and customization, the ThinkCentre M series will help corporate customers enhance their internal operations and management.
