According to Sohu.com, China's State Administration of Radio Film and Television has initiated a large scale bidding for the construction of China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting network for which it has received RMB150 million in special funds from China's Ministry of Finance.
This is the second round of bidding of CMMB equipment for SARFT. This time, the bidding equipment mainly covers transmitters, testing devices, CMMB portable terminals and other supporting systems. However, there is no comment from SARFT on whether it has really received these appropriate funds.
SARFT plans to build CMMB operation and coverage network in 37 main cities in China before the end of 2007. SARFT says the network will meet the business operation demand of mobile multimedia broadcasting. It is expected that with the completion of these networks, users will be able to watch more free mobile phone based television programs during the Beijing Olympic Games.
