GE Drivetrain Technologies, a unit of GE Transportation, and Chongqing XinXing Fengneng Investment Company have formed a joint venture company to produce large diameter gears for the wind turbine industry.

The German industrial conglomerate Siemens is expanding its global manufacturing network for wind turbine plants and is building a new facility to produce rotor blades and nacelles in Lingang New City in Shanghai.

American Superconductor Corporation has received new orders for wind turbine core electrical components and full wind turbine electrical systems from companies in Canada and China that are in the process of adopting and scaling up manufacturing of wind turbines designed by AMSC's wholly owned subsidiary, AMSC Windtec.
