Mobile Phone Manufacturing Increases As Computer Exports Slow In China

From January to August 2011, China manufactured 699 million mobile phones, an increase of 19.3% from last year according to latest statistics released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The ministry said that during the first eight months of 2011, the production and sales within the Chinese communications device industry recovered rapidly. In August alone, the sales value of the Chinese communication device industry increased by 32.4%, which was 15% higher than that in July 2011; and the export delivery value of the industry increased by 17.7%, which was 10.4% higher than that in July 2011.

From January to August 2011, the total sales value reached CNY682.7 billion, an increase of 23.9%, while the total export delivery value reached CNY335.9 billion, an increase of 12.5%.

At the same time, during the first eight months of 2011, China made 699 million mobile phones, 48.238 million mobile communication base station channels, and 20.2 million private branch exchange lines.

During the reporting period, production and export in the computer industry in China slowed down. In August, the sales value of the Chinese computer industry increased by 13.6%, which was 3.3% lower than the previous month; and the export delivery value of the industry increased by 14.6%, which was 6.2% lower than the previous month. From January to August, the total sales value of the Chinese computer industry increased by 16% to CNY1.363 trillion; and the total export delivery value increased by 13.4% to CNY1.026 trillion. The entire Chinese industry made 204.3 million micro computers during the reporting period, an increase of 34.8%.
