China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine has reported that its Zhejiang branch has identified three pesticides in a batch of soybeans imported to China from the United States.

The pesticides concerned are metalaxyl, fludioxonil and thiamethoxam.

The report says 57,000 tons of imported American soybeans contained both soybeans conforming to Chinese standards and blue coated soybeans containing the three kinds of pesticide.

To protect consumers' health the Zhejiang Provincial Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine administration has organized a team to sort and remove the coated soybeans out. Meanwhile AQSIQ has issued a 90-day early warning about American soybeans imported to China.

In addition, AQSIQ has urged the U.S. authorities to take effective measures to strengthen their supervision of soybean products exported to China. It has also instructed the relevant departments in China to carry out strict inspection and supervision on soybeans imported from the U.S.
