China's Chana Auto Company has signed a cooperation agreement on zero-emission electric vehicles with the Canadian company Electrovaya, a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of its proprietary Lithium Ion SuperPolymer battery systems.

The agreement allows Chana to enter the Canadian electric vehicle market together with Electrovaya. Chang'an Benben, independently developed by Chana, will be the main model from the two parties' cooperation.

According to the agreement, in the initial stage of the cooperation Chana will provide auto parts for Electrovaya to assemble low and medium speed electric vehicles in Canada and to sell them in the Canadian marketplace. Ultimately Chana plans to directly export electric vehicles that it has developed independently.
