Woven Systems has opened a new software development center in Beijing to add critical product development and quality assurance testing resources.

"We're tapping into an extraordinary pool of technical talent with the opening of our Beijing center," said Jeff Thermond, president and CEO of Woven Systems. "Our proximity to some of the best technical universities in all of China will be a significant recruiting advantage. And this is important because of surging worldwide interest in Ethernet Fabric switching solutions. We anticipate a significant expansion of our software development and quality testing resources in the first half of this year with the addition of the Beijing Development Center."

Woven Systems' expansion coincides with a recent US$20 million Series B funding round and commercial availability of its flagship 10 Gigabit Ethernet Fabric Switch, the EFX 1000.

The new center will provide Woven Systems with the added benefit of a strategic, full-time customer support presence in Asia.
